Neue Studie belegt: Umsatz um 22 Prozent gestiegen – über 49.000 Beschäftigte in Wien Wien zählt zu den führenden Life Sciences-Standorten Europas. Mit 754 Organisationen, die in Wien forschen, entwickeln und produzieren – davon 646 Unternehmen, 19 Forschungseinrichtungen und 89 weitere wichtige Organisationen – beheimatet die Stadt auch mehr als die Hälfte der österreichischen Branche. Der neue Life Sciences-Report liefert nun vielversprechende Daten: Von 2020 bis 2023 stieg der Jahresumsatz der Branche um 22 Prozent auf 22,7 Milliarden Euro. 81 Prozent (18,4 Milliarden Euro) davon entfallen auf Biotechnologie- und Pharma-Unternehmen. Auch bei den Beschäftigten legte die Branche zu: Die Zahl der Mitarbeitenden wuchs um 8 Prozent auf über 49.000. Davon sind 47 Prozent im Biotechnologie- und Pharmabereich tätig, 22 Prozent in der Medizintechnik und 26 Prozent in Forschungseinrichtungen.
