The Vice-Rector for Teaching and Study Matters of the Medical University of Innsbruck together with the ÖGMBT Young Life Scientists Austria invite to a 1-day workshop on

Effective Visual Communication of Science:  how to visualize your scientific ideas and help your audience effortlessly grasp the essence of your research

on Monday, 26th of February 2018,

in the CCB, Innrain 80, Seminar room M01.392

The workshop is especially valuable for PhD students and young PostDocs who have to communicate complex ideas and results.

People are 'visual creatures'. When reading research papers, conference posters or viewing slide presentations, people look at figures first. If created properly, figures are the most effective way to attract audience, explain complex ideas in the shortest amount of time and raise your credibility.

In this comprehensive workshop, you will learn how to make your scientific communication more easily understood by peer scientists or other audiences. You will learn the underlying principles of visual communication, like: how to create an intuitive eye-flow, a good visual hierarchy and how to use colors to amplify, not fancify. We will apply the principles in a drawing exercise where you will sketch your own research ideas as a graphical abstract and receive feedback from your peers. We will pay special attention to data visualizations including the basics of various computer programs.

Please visit the homepage for more detailed information: www.seyens.com

Registration is required until 4th of February!

The workshop fee of 20 Euros for members of the Medical University or the ÖGMBT has to be paid at the time of registration.

On-site registration and payment: Melanie Hofer, CCB Administration 1st floor, Innrain 80

Please note: Limited number of participants! First come - first serve!
