SUMMARY:Transglutaminases in biological processes
LOCATION:Padova, Italy
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE: The FEBS Advanced Lecture Course ‘Transglutaminases in biologic
al processes’ will bring together an international and interdisciplin
ary community of researchers to explore current advances in transglutaminas
e biology and their relevance to health and disease. The course (which foll
ows the FEBS Workshop ‘Transglutaminases in human disease processes&r
squo; in 2024) aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the physiologica
l functions of transglutaminase enzymes, including their roles in signal tr
ansduction, protein crosslinking, and extracellular matrix organisation, as
well as their contribution to a broad spectrum of pathological conditions.
Topics covered will include cardiovascular and neurological diseases, canc
er, inflammation and autoimmunity, fibrosis and tissue remodelling, metabol
ic disorders, and emerging disease contexts, together with new experimental
approaches and tools to study and modulate transglutaminase activity.\n \
n\n The scientific programme is designed to offer advanced training and i
n-depth discussion, combining plenary and keynote lectures with seven thema
tic sessions led by internationally recognised experts. Each session will i
nclude invited talks alongside selected presentations from early-career res
earchers, promoting active participation and scientific exchange across car
eer stages. Young scientists will also be involved in moderating discussion
s and presenting their work through short talks and poster flash presentati
ons.\n \n\n In addition to the scientific content, the course will place
strong emphasis on training, networking, and career development. Dedicated
sessions will address career paths in academia and industry, effective sci
entific communication, and funding opportunities, while ample time will be
reserved for informal interactions and social activities. Overall, the cour
se will provide a stimulating and supportive environment for learning, disc
ussion, and collaboration, and will contribute to the continued development
of the transglutaminase research community.\n \n\n The course website i
s under construction. Please monitor the Advanced Courses calendar for when
the link becomes available.\n Location: Padova. Italy\n Organizers
