THE JOB

For our headquarters in Vienna, we are seeking two curious and innovative Research Scientists who want to play an active role in the development of new products for the growing transcriptomics market. You will follow the current developments, scrutinize existing protocols and concepts, research the IP landscape with the aim to develop new protocols and techniques which produce more accurate results, and are easier to apply then products available today. You will be part of a team of scientists and technicians which work in changing setting on few different projects at one time. 

 

The responsibilities

  • Development of novel assays for nucleic acid characterization
  • One position will focus on single cell sequencing and the organizing of pilot and showcase experiments
  • The other position will address the needs to research the competitor landscape and to develop and support our collaboration efforts
  • Both involves the designing, organizing and realization of internal experiments and together with external partners
  • Providing scientific expertise through hands-on experience and literature research
  • Instructing and leading of technical assistants
  • NGS data analyses and interpretation
  • Planning, reporting and presenting
  • Preparation of publication ready material to support marketing activities
  • Close interaction with the product development team and the other departments to support all stages of product design and development
  • Maintain a high scientific and technical knowledge

The job requirements

  • PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology or related subject in life science
  • Expertise in the field of RNA, enzymatic reactions, and assay design are requirements
  • Hands-on experience in cell cultures is an asset
  • Experience in sequencing technologies, especially with single-cell RNA-seq
  • Experience with GLP, GMP, and quality management is of advantage
  • Thorough analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent command (verbal and written) of the English language
  • Profound experience of systematic data analyses, interpretation in writing with the ability to extract the essence from complex data sets
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment with high personal responsibility
  • Open-minded, creative, and courageous personality

YOU

Your experience and know-how

  • Hands-on experience in basic and/or applied Life Sciences research (mandatory).
  • Deep knowledge of RNA biology (mandatory).
  • Profound knowledge of all sequencing technologies with emphasis on RNA-Seq (if possible).
  • Instructing technicians or students is a plus.

The compensation

 

Remuneration will be according to experience and performance.

Disclaimer according to Austrian Law: Minimum base salary according to collective agreement for utilization group III is EUR 2014,41 per month (14x/year) for a full-time position.
