Position:

The Bucher Lab headed by Marcel Bucher is seeking a
PhD student who would like to conduct in-depth research
into the genetic and edaphic mechanisms underlying the
spatio-temporal and functional variability of the microbiota
in the mycorrhizosphere of the crop maize as part of the
DFG-funded priority programme SPP2089 "Rhizosphere
Spatiotemporal Organisation". The research focus is on
genetic factors that determine the structural and functional
interactions between mycorrhizal plant, microbiota and
soil. We are based at the Cologne Biocenter, a modern
integrative research and teaching facility for life sciences
at the University of Cologne, which offers an excellent
research infrastructure in an international environment and
includes the CEPLAS and CECAD clusters of excellence.
 


Requirements:

The ideal candidate holds a degree in biology or in a
related field with a good background in “wetlab biology”, is
skilled in metagenomics analyses including solid statistics
and quantitative biology, and has an "I can do it" attitude.


Starting date:

The position is available immediately.



Duration:  

3 years (extension possible) 


Salary:  

According to Cologne University and federal guidelines.
