Center for Pathobiochemistry and Genetics


The Institutes of the Center for Pathobiochemistry and Genetics are engaged in research, teaching and
clinical diagnostic activities in the field of human genetics.  
The Center’s scientific interest is the genetic predisposition to disorders, including the characterization
of the molecular basis of monogenetic diseases, stem cell research, tumor biology, reproductive
genetics, aging, lipid metabolism, signal transduction and genetic diseases, as well as the development
of novel therapeutic strategies for human genetic disorders, bioethics and toxicogenetics.  
We organize courses for students in human medicine, genetics, biochemistry and related fields.
Moreover, we supervise masters and doctoral theses and offer a full postgraduate training in medical
genetics.  
The Center’s clinical section offers a range of up-to-date genetic analyses in the areas of pre- and
postnatal cytogenetic, molecular cytogenetic and molecular genetic diagnostics, as well as
comprehensive genetic consultations in line with patient care.

 

Post-doc / Group Leader Position available Code: 5098/21

Center for Pathobiochemistry and Genetics, the Institute of Medical Genetics and the Institute of
Medical Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry, intends to fill in total two positions for a term of three years
with an Assistant (Post-doc), expected from October 2021, employment level 40 hours, salary Euro
3.945,-- gross, 14x/year.

 

Requirements

Degree in (Molecular) Biology, Chemistry, Medicine or Pharmacy with PhD, excellent tracking record in
research and teaching.

 

Additional Informations

The Center for Pathobiochemistry and Genetics is looking to expand its research activities with three
experienced Senior Post-doc with experience abroad and with the willingness to establish her/his own
research group or with three Junior Group Leaders. The focus of research activities should overlap
strongly with those at the Center (stem cell research, signal transduction and metabolism, aging, lipid-/
lipoprotein-metabolism). The successful candidates are expected to have a good tracking record, as
evidenced by a lively publication activity, willingness to attract third-party funds, teamwork and
leadership skills, initiative, communication skills and self-employment. An active participation in the
teaching of at least 4 semester hours per week is required.
