To strengthen our research team, we are looking for an eager master student to
join our Christian Doppler Laboratory for Personalized Immunotherapy at Medical
University of Vienna. With a strong translational focus, we are aiming to understand
the interaction between cancer and immune cells to develop a comprehensive 360°
biomarker including various tissue-, blood-, and radiology-based information for
prediction of immune checkpoint therapy response in cancer patients.

 

About the research project
Although immune checkpoint therapy revolutionized cancer treatment, still a
subset of patient shows no response or even an accelerated disease progression.
In this project, we are focusing on the role of monocyte and their subsets in the
modulation of the anti-cancer immune response and immune checkpoint therapy.

 

What we are looking for:
o Student (m, f, d) with a Bachelor’s degree in biology,
biotechnology, biochemistry, life science, or an equivalent  
o Profound wet lab skills are a prerequisite
o Experience in cell culture, cell biology, immunology
o Hands-on experience in flow cytometry is a plus
o Self-organizational, enthusiastic, and solution-focused work style
o Team player and high degree of curiosity and creativity
o Good English skills

 

This Master’s thesis will be conducted in a translational research environment with
a close exchange between basic researchers and clinicians. We are offering this
position located at the Medical University of Vienna starting earliest from
01.10.2021 for six months.
