Several Master projects are currently available in the QPS Austria in vivo, in vitro and histology departments.

Your Responsibilities and Tasks:

Responsibilities depend on the selected project and will be defined during the selection of the perfect project for the student. When applying, please specify in which of the following three areas you would like to perform your project:

1. In vitro:

  • Characterization of in cell culture models of different neurodegenerative or rare diseases
  • Cultivation, treatment and harvesting of cells in culture
  • Biochemical and histological analysis of cells and lysates for disease-specific pathologies

2. Histology:

  • Histological analyses of brain and visceral organs of murine models for neurodegenerative or rare disease-specific pathologies
  • Immunofluorescent labeling
  • Microscopy

3. In vivo:

  • Detailed planning of behavioral test procedures
  • Establishment of behavioral test
  • Evaluation of different animal models using the new test procedure

All projects:

  • Statistical analysis of quantitative data using GraphPad Prism
  • Presentation of data at in-house meeting
Your profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or equivalent
  • First experiences in animal behavioral tests or histological analyses or cell culture or protein biochemistry preferred
  • Fluent in written and spoken English or German
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office
  • Good team player
  • Supervision by an European university is mandatory
