Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist with a strong background in cancer immunotherapy and human immune monitoring assays. The focus of the Translational Research Department will be to develop and perform critical immune monitoring assays with clinical specimen for mechanistic characterization of novel therapies and assessment of target engagement.

Main Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal and external research teams to establish and advance translational research capabilities at Hookipa
• Working with infectious substances and human tissue samples under BSL-2 conditions
• Develop, perform and improve critical immune assays including multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISpot, cytokine assay and other immunoassays
• In depths characterization of human PBMCs with a focus on T cells
• Maintaining primary cells and cell lines
• Human and animal tissue preparation and processing
• Analysis and presentation of results to a broad audience
• Active participation in project teams

Qualifications:

• MD or PhD in relevant field (e.g. Medicine, Biology, Immunology)
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry, immunological assays, molecular biology and human PBMC culture
• Very good knowledge of human immunology and cancer immunotherapy
• Knowledge of bioinformatics would be a plus
• Independent, efficient, and proactive workstyle
• Well organized, detail-oriented, hands-on mentality, and solution-oriented
• Motivated, flexible, team player with the ability to work under time pressure
• Eager to learn and develop new techniques
• Fluent in English

We are required by Austrian law to post a minimum salary. The minimum monthly gross salary of EUR 4.563,-- (based on fulltime – 40h/week) depending on experience and qualification salary can be negotiated. In addition, we offer a performance-related bonus payment and participation in our stock option compensation program.
