Beschreibung:

We are Austria’s largest Research and Technology Organisation and an international player in the research areas that we cover. This makes us a leading development partner for industry and a top employer in the scientific community. Our Center for Health & Bioresources is seeking to hire a new Ingenious Partner for our location in Tulln (in immediate vicinity of Vienna):

Junior Scientist (m/f) Fungal genetics and signal transduction (Post Doc)

IMAGINE

  • In their natural habitat, fungi constantly face the challenge to outcompete other organisms in complex ecosystems. Therefore, they developed powerful enzyme systems for degradation of substrate, which provide for fast growth and efficient colonization of their environment. However, the production of these enzymes is tightly regulated. We could show that regulation of cellulase gene expression occurs not only at the transcriptional, but also at the posttranscriptional level.
  • As part of our international interdisciplinary team you will contribute to the exploration of different pathways acting on RNA stability, protein modification, stability, and ultimately enzyme production.

ENGAGE

  • You will work on a high level research project, which aims at elucidating perspectives for application in industrial fermentations.
  • You will present your results in scientific conferences and depending on the results, also to potential industrial partners.
  • You will interact with the students in the team and enhance scientific exchange between projects.

ACHIEVE

  • Your contribution shall lead to results directly applicable in industrial production strains.
  • You will create synergies among ongoing projects and increase the efficiency through collaboration.
  • Your results can contribute to economic viability of second generation biofuels and to more sustainable industrial processes from chemical conversions to agriculture.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner (m/f):

  • You hold a PhD degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or a related field and should have experience in common experimental techniques used in molecular biology and genetics.
  • Experience in working with filamentous fungi, especially in the field of gene regulation and omics techniques is expected.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatic techniques will be beneficial and at least basic understanding of signaling pathways in fungi is welcome.
  • Highly-motivated, willing to interact and contribute scientifically to our team
  • Excellent communication skills in English both in spoken and written, as you will give talks and participate in writing publications.

What to expect:

The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement is EUR 46.186,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience. In addition, we offer company benefits, flexible working conditions, individual training and career opportunities.
