DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>	&nbsp;The 16th MiPconference MiP2026 aims to address current challenges
  and emerging opportunities in mitochondrial diagnostics, prevention, and t
 herapy across a broad spectrum of health conditions. Mitochondria play a ce
 ntral role in cellular homeostasis, and their dysfunction is implicated in 
 a highly heterogeneous group of disorders, ranging from primary mitochondri
 al diseases to common multifactorial conditions, including metabolic, neuro
 degenerative, and inflammatory pathologies, many of which are related to ob
 esity.</p><p>	Why worry about diagnosis when evidence-based pathways to the
 rapy and rehabilitation are missing? When is prevention the best therapy? W
 hy trust in a therapy when time-course studies lack mitochondrial functiona
 l diagnostics?</p><p>	Contributions are welcomed from both basic and clinic
 al research, reflecting the need for integrative approaches in mitochondria
 l medicine. In addition to primary genetic defects, secondary mitochondrial
  dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a critical driver of disease pro
 gression, giving rise to complex feedback loops that exacerbate comorbiditi
 es, particularly in ageing. Understanding these mechanisms on the basis of 
 reproducible and quality-controlled experimental evidence is essential for 
 advancing diagnosis, stratification, and therapeutic intervention.</p><p>	B
 y bringing together researchers and clinicians across disciplines, this foc
 used symposium seeks to foster dialogue that goes beyond the exchange of cu
 rrent knowledge. A key objective is to harmonize diagnostic methods, critic
 ally examine key definitions, bridge disciplinary divides, and promote trul
 y translational approaches that link mechanistic insight with clinical impl
