The Department of Biotechnology has a long term tradition of industrial collaboration in all different fields of industrial biotechnology. Many projects are carried out in cooperation with the Institute of Applied Statistics and Computing since statistics are of increasing importance in this field.

Starting with June 2018, the Institute of Applied Statistics and Computing (IASC) together with the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) at BOKU Vienna offer a

3 years - PostDoc position in

Statistical Evaluation in Downstream Processing

Project description

Biopharmaceutical process development is commonly very empirically driven and needs a large number of experiments delivering corresponding data from diverse analytical tools and monitoring processes. Statistical evaluation of such data to determine precision, accuracy, reproducibility, and robustness of measurements are daily business for all scientists. Within the last two decades new trends emerged changing and challenging classical statistical tools and led to new developments. This leads to an exponential increase of included variables and parameters, and consequently, to huge expansion of the amounts of data. Furthermore, the release of the PAT guidance by the FDA in 2004 as the enabling aspect of Quality-by-Design in biopharmaceutical production changed the perspective on data interpretation including the need for modelling strategies, for predictability and evaluation of data in real time or close to. In the current project the post Doc position is thought to be an inter-linkage between BOKU and our industrial partner. You will get to know downstream processes during process development and on the manufacturing stage. Your will learn about the statistical tools and methods applied so far in the company. Based on your experience and the close interaction with the BOKU supervision we will develop tailor made statistical methods and concepts and you will implement those at the company.

Your profile
