Beschreibung:

A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Tung-Tien Sun’s laboratory in the Department of Cell Biology, New York University School of Medicine, to study the stem cells of bladder urothelium, a multi-layered epithelium that forms a remarkable permeability barrier separating the harmful urine substances from body fluid. Abnormalities in urothelial stem cells can lead to urinary tract diseases including bladder cancer. Ongoing studies include the identification of urothelial stem cells based on their cell kinetic, migratory and growth properties; identification of urothelial stem cell markers; studies of these cells’ roles in bladder tumorigenesis, and their differentiation to undergo membrane specialization (uroplakin trafficking and assembly). Dr. Sun’s lab has contributed to the establishment of keratins as epithelial markers, uroplakins as urothelial markers, and the discoveries of corneal, hair follicular and prostatic epithelial stem cells (Google Scholar). He has been giving a popular lecture series to graduate students and postdocs addressing how to get lab techniques to work (‘Lab Experiments’), how to read papers and generate ideas (‘Thought Experiments’), how to give a talk, and how to write a paper (feedback). Please send your CV and supporting documents to Dr. Sun at sunt01@nyumc.org.
