A PhD student position is available in the group of Ines Swoboda at the Molecular Biotechnology Section, FH Campus Wien, Campus Vienna Biocenter, Austria. The student will work on a FFG-funded project in collaboration with the OFI (Austrian research institute for chemistry and technology) that focusses on the evaluation of the biocompatibility of medical devices. Aim of the project is to develop an in vitro test system that allows assessing the biocompatibility of medical devices. The developed test system will represent a reliable tool that replaces elaborate and often questionable animal experiments.
For these studies a broad spectrum of cell biological, immunological, biochemical and bioinformatical techniques will be applied.

Requirements:
• Master/Diploma degree in “Biotechnology”, “Genetics”, “Molecular Biology”, “Biology”, “Biochemistry”
• Knowledge in methods of cell biology, immunology, biochemistry
• Creativity and analytical thinking
• Enthusiasm for scientific research
• Excellent command of English
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently
