RAND Europe is a not-for-profit research institute whose mission is to help improve policy and decision-making through research and analysis.

Position Summary:

Your primary role will be to address complex policy questions by conducting high-quality and objective research and analysis for RAND Europe and to support the team in submitting proposals and delivering multiple projects in a timely and accurate manner. In particular, we are looking for individuals with experience in undertaking research in the following policy areas: education, children and family policy, higher education, and/or transition from education to the labour market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Doing research – quantitative data analyses, surveys, interviews, literature reviews, etc.
  • Drafting and editing reports.
  • Project management on research projects.
  • Proposal writing - drawing up budgets, preparing administrative side of proposals, and working on the substance of proposal.

Everything else: team meetings, team specific products, networking communications (e.g. speaking at conferences, drafting project summaries for the website, etc.).

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

  • Proven quantitative research skills.
  • Proven writing skills.
  • Interest and experience in policy research.
  • Topic-specific knowledge in the policy areas covered by the Home Affairs and Social Policy Programme, and specifically in education, children and family policy, higher education, and/or transition from education to the labour market.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
  • Work to tight deadlines.

 
Desired

  • Experience with running and analysing randomised control trials.
  • Familiarity with large national and/or international educational datasets.
  • Qualitative research skills (literature reviews, interviews).
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an important asset.
  • Previous experience in a similar organisation and/or conducting research for policymakers.
  • Familiarity with the process of responding to calls for tenders.

 

Qualifications

  • Educated to at least MSc level.
