A new strong association of life scientists has been founded with the Austrian Association of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology (ÖGMBT). The new association representing about 1000 scientists in Austria, comes to life through the amalgamation of three parent associations, namely the ÖGBT (Austrian Society for Biotechnology), ÖGGGT (Austrian Association for Genetics and Genetic Engineering) and the ÖGBM (Austrian Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology).
The association in the field of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology including related disciplines aims to:
Promotion and implementation of research and adult education
Promotion of functional and team cooperation as well as a representation of interests to the public and organizations, nationally and internationally
Intensification of cooperation between research and industry
Further obectives:
The organization of scientific events such as meetings, conferences, symposia, scientific education and the promotion of young scientists. Presentation of the spectrum of Molecular Life Sciences and Biotechnology. Promotion of the "Public Understanding of Science". Translation of research results, consulting of policy makers in relation to matters of research. The ÖGMBT is represented with regional branches all over Austria focusing on the promotion of young scientists.
